​​Hand Solder Training - Lead/Lead-Free

Course Description                                                                 
The Hand Soldering training is a (1-3) day course of Instruction. This course introduces the fundamentals of soldering, the knowledge and hands-on training necessary to master the basic techniques of soldering for electronic assemblies. The program is 25% lecture and discussion and 75% hands on application which concentrates on enhancing the student’s knowledge as well as improving their soldering and inspection skills. Customize this course by selecting the modules that meet your training requirements for soldering, inspection and rework. 

Verion Training offers five standard modules and two Rework Modules that support a combination of hands on application process for the Manufacturing/ Assembly industry. An optional practical exam is also available.

  • Module 1:Soldering Principlesis the prerequisite for all additional modules.
    • Topics: Soldering Terminology, Soldering Safety, Electronic Assembly Tools and Cleanliness requirements.
  • Module 2:Plated Through Hole (PTH) Soldering
    • Topics: Component Preparation, Solder Joint Requirements and Soldering Lab (Hands-On).
  • Module 3:Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Soldering
    • Topics: Component Placement, Solder Joint Requirements and Soldering Lab (Hands-On).
  • Module 4: Terminal and Wire Soldering
    • Topics: Terminal & Wire Solder Joint requirements, Wire Preparation and Soldering Lab (Hands-On).
  • Module 5: Plated Through Hole (PTH) Rework & Touch-up
    • Topics: Touch-up Techniques, Rework Techniques, Rework Lab (Hands-On), and Touch-up Lab (Hands-On).
  • Module 6: Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Rework & Touch-up
    • Topics: Touch-up Techniques, Rework Techniques, Rework Lab (Hands-On), and Touch-up Lab (Hands-On).
  • Module 7: Inspection Skills
    • Topics: Inspection Methods, Plated Through Hole Inspection Requirements, Surface Mount Technology Inspection Requirements, Terminals and Wire Inspection Requirements, and Inspection Lab (Hands-On).

Prerequisites/ Who Should Become Certified
Module 1: Soldering Principles is the prerequisite for all additional modules. This course is designed for individuals with little or no experience. Anyone involved in the assembly of electronics, engineers, technicians, and electronic assemblers with limited hand soldering experience or those who want to improve their knowledge and raise their standard skill level.
