IPC was founded in 1957 as the Institute for Printed Circuits. As more electronics assembly companies became involved with the association, the name was changed to the institute for interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits.
IPC, now called as the perfect complement to our name because it expresses IPC’s mission of networking and technical exchange as well as emphasizing the importance of the printed circuit board. IPC represents all facets of the industry including design, printed board manufacturing, and electronics assembly and test.
IPC Mission Statement
IPC is a global trade association dedicated to furthering the competitive excellence and financial success of its members, who are participants in the electronics industry. In pursuit of these objectives, IPC will devote resources to management improvement and technology enhancement programs, the creation of relevant standards, protection of the environment, and pertinent government relations. IPC encourages the active participation of all its members in these activities and commits to full cooperation with all related organization.
IPC Certification Portal
IPC has moved all examinations online to the IPC Certification Portal. In order to begin examination in the portal, you and/ or your technicians must be registered with IPC. Please record your IPC login information and bring to class.
IPC Certification Extension
Certifications can be extended for a maximum of 90 days total. Please review the IPC policies and procedures for additional information. There are separate procedures for Certified IPC Trainers (Instructors) and Certified IPC Application Specialist (operator/ worker proficiency), as noted below.
Certified IPC Trainers (CIT)
Certified IPC Trainers may login to the Certified Portal to view a history of their certifications and request an extension. Once requested, the Certification Portal will be updated to reflect the granted extension and the CIT will receive an auto-generated e-mail notification.
Certified IPC Application Specialist (CIS)
(Previously identified as operators, worker proficiency, inspectors, etc.)
Extensions, up to 90 days maximum, can be granted by a Certified IPC Trainer for that specific program. Use of the CIS Extension Form is suggested, but not required. When possible, the CIT that originally granted the certification that issued the extension. If it isn’t possible, extensions can be granted by any currently certified CIT or MIT for that program.
