The IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) Training and Certification Program is a (3) day course and is an industry consensus standard for cable and wire harness fabrication and installation. Classes of products are defined and include criteria for Target, Acceptable, Process Indicator and Defect conditions. The IPC/WHMA-A-620 CIS course of instruction is modeled after the IPC-A-610 training, IPC’s most recognized standard.
An open book exam will be given for each module taught and a 70% score is required to pass the module/ class. Each student who successfully completes the course will receive an IPC/WHMA-A-620 CIS Certification identifying the respective modules completed. The IPC Certification term is two years from completion of module 1.

Module 2: Crimp Termination; Insulation Displacement Connections (IDC)
Module 3: Soldered Terminations
Module 4: Connectorizations; Molding/ Potting
Module 5: Splices
Module 6: Marking and Labeling; Wire Bundle Securing; Shielding; Cable/Wire Harness Protective Coverings
Module 7: Coaxial and twinaxial Cable Assemblies
Module 8: Soldering Wire Wrap
Prerequisites/ Who Should Become Certified
An understanding of the Cable and Wire Harness Assembly Industry is all that is needed to benefit from IPC-A-620 course. This course will benefit anyone responsible for the quality and reliability cable and wire harness assemblies-including engineers, quality supervisors, inspectors and manufacturing personnel responsible for quality assurance.
