IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Trainers (CIT) Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies

Course Description
The IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) program is a (4) day course which consists of (9) modules. Upon successful completion of this course, Certified IPC Trainers will be qualified to train your workers in a (3) day IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) training program and award proficiency certificates. 

Throughout this course, employees will be trained to correctly apply the accept/non-conforming criteria for the applicable class of production: (Class 1) Consumer Products; (Class 2) General Industrial; (Class 3) High Reliability. Certification requires a 80% or better grade.

Course Topics:

  • Purpose and application of IPC-A-610
  • Hardware installation
  • Soldering criteria, including lead free connections
  • Soldering requirements for plated-through holes, surface mount terminations, and terminals
  • Swaged hardware and heatsink requirements of mechanical assemblies
  • Component mounting criteria for DIPS, socket pins and card edge connectors
  • Jumper wire assembly requirements

Interactive PCB Inspection Lab
This is an optional, (1) day course intended for any employee who will be inspecting printed circuit assemblies or any employee who wants to improve or reinforce their observation and inspection skills of printed circuits assemblies. This course utilizes lectures, visual acuity exercises, and physical assemblies to provide the students with an experience in visually inspecting printed circuit assemblies. 

Prerequisite/ Who Should Become Certified
An understanding of the Electronics Manufacturing Process is all that is required to benefit from the IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Training Program. This is an advanced course. Anyone responsible for the quality and reliability of electronic assemblies should become certified. This includes trainers, quality supervisors and engineering and manufacturing supervisors with assembly responsibilities.

What Students Receive
Everyone who successfully completes the CIT program will receive Instructional materials necessary for conducting CIS Training:

  • IPC Certificate of Training (valid for 24 months)
  • IPC-A-610 CIS Cert/Recert CD files
  • IPC-A-610 Manual, Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies
